Redbox Today Begins Computer Game Rental at Kiosks

Redbox today begins offering video game rentals at more than 21,000 redbox locations across the United States. Top video games will join new release movies for a $2 a day fee (their 'regular' DVDs rent for $1 while Blu-ray™ DVD titles go for a $1.50  daily rental price.

The new Redbox game rental option features games across the three major console platforms: PLAYSTATION® 3, Nintendo Wii™ and Xbox 360®. Video game titles will range from top releases to popular family and kids titles.

As with the company’s DVD and Blu-ray rentals you will have 24 hours to play and return the game; for every day the rental isn’t returned, you'll be charged $2.  And there is also a 30-day cut-off for you to keep the product and own it.

And the new release video games will be available the week of their initial launch (unlike the newly released DVD titles which become available one month after their public release).

Nintendo Premieres Next Gaming Console, the Wii U

Apple Computer was not the only technology company making announcements this week.  At the E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) being held in Los Angeles, California Nintendo announced their next home console.

This new hand-held controller is called the Wii u and is a companion to the popular Nintendo Wii gaming system.

Nintendo's marketing reads "With a revolutionary new touch screen controller, precision motion controls, and full HD graphics, a whole new world of play styles and gaming possibilities is on the horizon"

If you're a person who enjoys seeing the corporate demo of the new and forthcoming products, you may prefer the following video, this is the actually presentation made at the E3 Conference Tuesday.  I don't own a Wii, but have played on one.  The coolest new capabilities in my mind are the ability to continue play on your Wii with the controller when someone else wants to watch TV and the ability to zoom in and use the controller to enhance your gaming experience (augmenting the other Wii controls).
