If you're a Netflix customer - it's time to pick your plan/s

Last month the movie service Netflix announced a price increase for their DVD by mail and internet streaming services. Our family has been a Netflix customer for years - and have using the 2-DVDs at a time plan... and have also been enjoying the convenience of the streaming movie service. But now we - and a lot of other Netflix customers - have a choice to make.

If we want both plans, to both receive DVDs by mail _and_ be able to stream movies on our TV, computer, gaming system or mobile  device we have to pay an increased monthly fee of some 50 to 60-percent.

If you visit the Netflix website it's pretty clear to me that Netflix would like to steer you to select the Streaming option. The only mention of the DVD by mail pricing is at the bottom of the page under the link 'Can I get DVDs by mail from Netflix ?'

There has been grumbling and complaining in the marketplace since Netflix announced the price increases - and some folks are looking seriously at the alternatives.  Most notably perhaps is Amazon Instant Video where its online video service now has over 100,000 movies and TV shows.  Amazon Instant Video lets customers rent or purchase new-release movies ($3.99 and up) as well as stream TV shows the day after they air.  And if you're a member of Amazon Prime - you get more than 9,000 streaming movies and TV shows for no additional charge.

Streaming Movies & Programs
For only $7.99 a month, instantly watch unlimited movies & TV episodes streaming over the Internet to your TV via an Xbox 360, PS3, Wii or any other device that streams from Netflix. You can also watch instantly on your computer too!

DVD by Mail Also
You can add unlimited DVDs (1 DVD out-at-a-time plan) for only $7.99 more a month. With DVDs by mail, you'll get an even broader selection of movies & TV episodes. You can exchange each DVD as often as you want with no due dates or late fees — ever! You can add access to Blu-ray discs to your account at any time for an additional $2 a month.
