For the last several years my family has enjoyed the benefits of modern technology in checking the weather forecasts... 8 years ago it was really important to us to keep up with the weather -- we were regular viewers of the Weather Channel as we spent 12 months in a motor-home as we toured North America (it was my mission to deliver workshops & presentations in 40 states and 2 provinces). Lately we check Weather.com on our computer and I use the Apple Weather and Weather Channel Apps on my iPhone. But I have a new resource to share with you... a friend turned me on today to a service of the National Weather Service - their National Mosaic, a real-time enhanced map of the U.S. weather. It's an amazing graphic to look at (below is a screen shot taken just after 7:00PM Pacific Time December 28, 2010. Lots of storm activity in the western states: And what's even cooler -- if you click on a particular region on this map, it will provide a close-up/detailed forecast of that part of the country (like the screen shot below, which popped up when I clicked on the San Francisco Bay Area of California) You can check out this map yourself here: National Mosaic Enhanced Radar Image (if you want it to remain static and not loop/move, simply click on the 'non-looping image' link).
