In a recent issue of her Real Simple magazine, my wife shared with me a page that provided some hints for getting better Google search results. It also highlighted some other things you can do with Google besides using it to search for content on the web. Here are three of my favorites:
Track Packages I used this several times these past few weeks - simply enter the tracking number from your package delivery service and Google will display for you the link to view the tracking information for your package! I have tried it with US Postal Service as well as FedEx. I understand it will work with the other major carriers as well.
Convert Measurements You can enter a question or equation in the search bar and Google will perform the calculation for you. In the example at right I wanted to be reminded how many cups were in a quart. You can see my entry and the answer... now I don't have to remember or forget those common conversions.
Online Calculations Enter your mathematical question into the search field and click 'search'. The Google genius will provide the answer in a fraction of a minute. In the example at left I wanted to see what the Member discount (20%) would be for someone who was ordering one of my tutorial DVDs.
