June Members Webinar Next Thursday: Free Resources for Your Video Projects

Join Casablanca Expert as he provides a lesson to help you get the most from your Casablanca video editor.  

In this Members Session Casablanca Expert Chet Davis will share resources (mostly downloads from the internet) which provide you with free materials for your video projects! 

Included will be stock video & motion graphics, audio (music), graphics/photos, and fonts.  

This lesson will be of benefit to both Smart Edit & Bogart OS editors (actually all digital video editors) but importing all these files are easier using the Bogart V5 OS units. 

Chet will provide suggestions for converting/importing these resources into Casablanca Smart Edit units as well.

Music Video Created by Bobbie Evoy from Dallas Conference 2010

At the Dallas Casablanca Conference, held last October, Bobbie Evoy of Memories On Tape shot the participants in prepartion for a music video she had in mind.  To see the wheels spinning in Bobbie's very creative mind is a treat!  She recently edited the footage with the song 'I Gotta Feeling' (by the Black Eyed Peas) and has made the video available on her Vimeo channel here.

One of the cool sequences in the video (screen shot below) is where Bobbie videotaped me in various positions around the conference classroom. She then composited the shots into a single scene using Split Screen.  Here is Bobbie's process for doing this:

The shot with the several Chets was done very simply with the Split-Screen effect. Here's how to do it yourself:
1.)  Camera must be on a tripod
2.)  Subject moves to different areas, trying not to go over another space, a couple can go over the others with a little work, easier to not have them go over the same spot... just record them for about 8 seconds, then have them move to another spot record another 8 seconds
3.)  Use 'SPLIT SCREEN' moving the adjuster to cover and add the next subject, make of scene of that.
4.)  Continue until all room is filled/desire
Be careful 'not to move tripod' for more realistic action.

I think it's always a great idea to look at other producer's work.  It can give you a fresh perspective, perhaps a new idea or two that you can incorporate into your own video work and sometimes even affirm that what you do is exactly right for you.  Here is an on-line site that can further the process for inspiration:

The creative process - illustrated on YouTube

You very likely have seen or heard about the TV advertising campaign 'The Old Spice Man'.  I believe I first saw the commercial during the Vancouver Olympic Games - it is a fun commercial, entertaining, eye-catching and apparently has caught on like a wild-fire. 

Here is one of their spots (this particular clip has had more than 20-million views on YouTube!
