The following information was demonstrated at the end of our Casablanca Expert Members Only Webinar this morning -- Members can review the streaming video of this episode in the Members Only Archives here (video to be uploaded by Thursday 1/19)
For colleagues editing on the Casablanca Next Gen series of video editors (running Bogart SE Version 2) it was exciting to learn that MacroSystem
US has released a new version of the Bogart 2 Operating System.
This new update is free to customers who have the Bogart 2 OS - you
can download the update on the MSUS website here (Our colleagues across the ocean/s have had the PAL version of this OS since September 16, 2009)
Once you have installed this Bogart 2 OS Update, you will note that in each menu screen, by pressing the 'F1' key, you will be presented with an on-screen list (titled 'Power Key - Information') of the primary Power Key shortcuts/functions available in that menu/screen.
You can download a free 2-page PDF document titled Favorite PowerKey Shortcuts at CasablancaExpert.com here (website members will also find 5 additional articles/tutorials involving PowerKey in the Premium content area of the website)
The above is a nice addition, a nifty way to be reminded of the PowerKey shortcuts we already had, but there's more! If you look closely in this on-screen list there are several new commands...
In the Edit Menu, click the following keyboard keys to complete the corresponding action:
Clipboard
- 'b' copies the active or marked* scene into the clipboard. Yes, it's here -- you no longer have to click on Special, then scroll to find the Clipboard, open it and click add scene. You can add a scene from the scene bin into the clipboard with just a single click! Just click the letter 'b' and it is done!
- 'ctrl' + 'b' - does the above but then moves to the next scene (to it's right) allowing you to add multiple scenes in a short sequence.
- 'Menu' button + 'b' opens the Clipboard (Menu button has also been called 'screens' button)
Grouping Functions
- 'g' opens up the Group Options that allow you to group similar scenes in 'folders' for organizing your scenes more efficiently. Website members will find this tutorial in the Premium Content on naming and organizing with the Group Options.
- 'Ctrl' + 'g' opens/add the current scene to the Group and then moves to the next scene when complete, allowing multiple entries in a short time.
*NOTE: When you are offered the option to affect the active or marked scene this is the difference:
- Active = the scene that is selected presently in the Scene Bin or Storyboard
- Marked = the scene or scenes that have been marked with the 'Mark' function in Smart Edit 8/Bogart 2 Edit Menu or via the 4-button trackball option (by clicking on a scene with the interior/small left trackball button) You can review this article for further instruction/details on the Mark functions.
Thanks to website member and colleague Lou Bruno for sharing his finding with me on these cool tools that might be otherwise unknown!
NOTE: there is also a 2-page PDF document for NTSC customers titled Bogart 2.4c Release Notes you can download and review here
