Macrosystem AG announced the release of the Store 'n' Share software that premiered at the IFA Conference in Berlin earlier this Fall.
This new software allows the Casablanca Next Generation editor the very cool ability to use an externally connected (USB) hard drive with Bogart SE v2 or v3 as an alternative to the internal hard drive. The Store'n'Share software can save your projects directly to the external hard drive.
From the Macrosystem AG website:
"If you record a project to an external hard drive you can then also
connect it to other Bogart systems, provided Casablanca Bogart
Store'n'Share is activated, and edit the project as if it were on the
original machine - if on both systems the effects used in the project
are also active.
In conjunction with HD backup you can also use the external hard drive to back up your internal hard drive. Saved projects can also be re-activated at a later date as a working project."
This software is only available for the Casablanca Next Gen series with the OS of Bogart SE V2.5a and above. This software is in NTSC testing but there is no estimated release date for North America at this time.

Regularly I answer questions dealing with Compressed Audio on DVD Authoring. With this option in DVD Arabesk software you can 'fit' more data onto a DVD... but it does take longer to compile/render the DVD project and you run the risk of having your recipient/audience run into an audio incompatibility. This incompatibility resides in their DVD player. Most every contemporary DVD player (and models from the past several years) have the ability to playback compressed audio but it may require an adjustment in their DVD player menu.
Tim Kennelly of Videosonics had a great suggestion on the Casablanca Forum this past week that I really liked, so much so I wanted to share it with you all here:
...(adjusting for compressed audio) is a simple setting issue on their DVD player, but I hate the thought that I put a ton of work into a finished product and their first experience with it is without audio as audio is an important part of the video. It's a one time deal to do with a DVD player (simple internal menu audio control change from LPCM or PCM only to All) and then I know that their wedding video will play back with audio when they get it."
Great suggestion Tim!
